WWDC ‘11 Predictions
Annually Apple holds a Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in California which kicks off with a keynote from Steve Jobs announcing new products/service/direction.
Apple takes great delight in the secrecy around these announcements, however here are my predictions (sorta educated) on what we’re going to see on Monday (06/06/11):
What we’ll see
- iOS 5; updated notifications system // twitter integration at core // updated maps (turn by turn directions?) // dashboard | to release within few weeks
- Mac OS X Lion; launchpad // full-screen apps // mission control | to release June/July
- iCloud; music streaming service // as of today Apple own iCloud.com and trademarks | to release July
Might see
- Movies/TV subscription service; as part of iCloud
- iPhone 4S; a minor update like 3G to 3GS just to get by till iPhone 5 next year
- Airport/Time Capsule; not been updated in ages // stocks running dry
Not going to see
- iPhone 5; parts shortage // iPhone 4 still just launching in some countries // waiting for competitors to make move/improvement
- iPad 3; parts shortage // too soon after iPad 2 // expected Q2 2012
